How a call actually goes

Brookline Print and Design
  1. Assistant

Thanks for calling Brookline Print and Design. I'm an AI assistant for the team, and this call is recorded. How can I help?

  2. Caller

Hi. What are your hours, and do you make custom signs for events?

  3. Assistant

We're open 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and yes, the team makes custom signs and banners. What's the event?

  4. Caller

A grand opening next month. I'd like to talk to someone about options.

  5. Assistant

Jordan on our design team is the right person for that. Would you like me to connect you now?

  6. Caller

    Yes, please.

  7. Assistant

Jordan is with another customer right now. Can I take a message and set up a callback?

  8. Caller

Sure. It's Sam, (800) 555-0142. Tomorrow morning works.

  9. Assistant

Got it, Sam. Jordan will call you tomorrow at 10 AM. Anything else I can help with?

Sample call for illustration. Brookline Print and Design is a made-up business.

When a caller needs a person

When a caller needs more than an answer, the assistant gets them to the right person, or makes sure that person calls back.

  1. An inbound call comes in.
  2. The assistant answers general questions and works out who can help. If the caller is urgent or ready to buy, it offers to connect them.
  3. Nobody is transferred without the caller saying yes.
  4. If the teammate answers, the call goes straight to them.
  5. If nobody answers, the assistant takes a detailed message, emails that person and puts a callback hold on their calendar.

Let me connect you with Dustin now.

From kickoff to live in about three weeks

  1. 01

    Week 1

We map your calls, write the answers and routing rules with you, pick the number and check consent on any outbound list.

  2. 02

    Week 2

We build the assistant, connect your calendar or CRM, and set up transfers and call summaries.

  3. 03

    Week 3

Test calls with our team and yours, fixes, then live on inbound. Most start with after hours or overflow.

  4. 04

    After launch

Outbound reminders and follow-ups turn on once consent and opt-outs are verified.

Timeline is an estimate and depends on your systems.

Built to play by the rules

Consent first

No outbound call without written consent on file.

Recording notice

A notice plays on every call.

Easy opt-out

Say stop and the number goes on a do-not-call list that's checked before every dial.

A person when needed

The assistant says it's an AI, never claims to be human, and hands off on your rules.

We use it ourselves

Meet Lauren, Mantum's AI receptionist.

Lauren runs on the same setup we build for clients. She answers our calls, takes messages and books from the times we give her. She'll tell you she's an AI that Mantum built.
